I am of the opinion that a fieri facias binds the personal property of the destor from the time the fieri facias comes to the hands of the sheriff –and if the debtor afterwards sells or otherwise disposes of his negroes or other personal property, the sheriff may seize and sell them to satisfy the fieri facias and the purchaser at the sheriff sale will have a good and safe title to the property – Against every person claiming under a bill of sale mortgage or other transfer made by the debtor after the fieri facias came to the hands of the sheriff.

Note: fieri facias – a writ commanding a sheriff to levi and sell as much of a debtor’s property as is necessary to satisfy a creditor’s claim against him.
